BREAKING MAD WITH POLISH THEATRE IRELAND
An evening of fun, live music and quizzes to raise funds for Polish Theatre Ireland’s productions
Venue: The Mercantile, 28 Dame Street Dublin 2
Date: Friday, 22 November 2013, 7pm
Polish Theatre Ireland (PTI) will host a fundraising event in order to let the company continue bringing their productions to the Irish venues. The managers of The Mercantile kindly offered PTI a space in their well-known and centrally located pub on Dame Street. The party will also be supported by various Polish and Irish musicians including OutMusic and GLAMA USA Award winners ZRAZY, pop-rock band Down The River and atmospheric El Grey. Additionally it will comprise of table quizzes for Breaking Bad fans as well as a good old fashioned raffle of goods with a chance of winning a professional photo shoot sponsored by B&W Tomasz Bobowski Photography.
During the last three years, PTI have successfully produced four professional shows in the prominent Dublin venues such as Focus Theatre, the Lir Theatre, Theatre Upstairs and Project Arts Centre, approached multinational artists and targeted various audiences of the city. Despite of having been turned down for the government awards, they don’t lose hope for future funding. However with the recent budget announcement of 7% cuts in the Department of Arts, Heritage and Culture, the chances for being subsidized are getting lower and PTI need to find ways of helping the costs of their initiatives elsewhere. This is why the idea of a fundraiser has arisen.
